North Carolina Recent Arrests is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, provide or remove an official booking photo, post bond, or retrieve a certified record. The sheriff, detention agency, court, or corrections office that holds a record must answer those requests.
Choose the Office That Holds It
North Carolina has no single county-booking office for the whole state. Start with the arresting agency or the county or regional facility that accepted custody. Use the County Directory to reach the local recent-arrests site, then follow its link to the sheriff or detention records unit. A county seat is a navigation clue, not proof that a jail is located there.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction maintains a separate offender search and publishes online public-records information and public-records contacts. Those routes concern state adult-corrections records, not a new county jail booking. Highway Patrol incident records go through the NCSHP public-records request page; the receiving county holds the local booking layer.
- For a county arrest, use the County Directory to identify the local custodian and roster.
- For a booking record or photo, start with the statewide record and request overview, then ask the source agency.
- For a person in state prison, on probation, or on parole, use the NCDAC offender search.
- For Highway Patrol arrest news or its report request, use the Highway Patrol page and the agency’s public-records form.
- For a federal prison record, use the BOP locator; it has no public booking-photo field.
- For immigration detention, use the ICE locator and its exact identity rules.
